HMRC launch dedicated phone lines for Scottish accountants

Professional advisers in Scotland can now put their queries direct to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) using a hotline for tax advice which was launched on 12 August.

HMRC says the new telephone service will be more efficient and will help tax advisers to get answers to tax queries on behalf of their clients.

The local Agent Dedicated Telephone Line (ADL) puts advisers in touch with an HMRC staff member immediately, who can then pass the query on to a specialist if need be.

The service has been developed with support and encouragement from HMRC’s professional partners involved in Working Together (the partnership between HMRC and the main agent representative bodies)

The ADLs are principally aimed at tackling enquiries about self assessment and Pay as you Earn (PAYE) for individuals, and partnership matters.
